Garuda has placed an order for six new Airbus aircraft

 Garuda Indonesia is the national airline of Indonesia. It is a full-service network carrier and serves 28 domestic and 18 international destinations. The airline’s main hubs in Indonesia are located in Jakarta and Denpasar. In July 2009, the airline unveiled a new aircraft fleet, new in-flight product, new service concept and a fresh corporate identity to mark the start of its transformation into one of Asia’s successful and profitable airlines. Garuda Indonesia received its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification in May 2008, recognizing that the airline is fully compliant with global best-practise standards for flight operations, aircraft maintenance and safety management system. In December 2009, the airline was also upgraded to a four-star rating by Skytrax, the global benchmark for airline service standards, confirming the improvement in its front-line product and service quality.

National carrier, Garuda Indonesia has placed an order with Airbus Industries for six A330-200 wide-body jets in a deal valued at US$1.15 billion.

Garuda Indonesia enters into new partnership with MCAP

Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia took deliveries of three Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft under a sale and leaseback agreement with MC Aviation Partners (MCAP), the aircraft leasing and trading arm of Mitsubishi Corporation.

Garuda Indonesia currently has in order a total of 50 boeing 737-800NGs from Boeing. To support its network expansion Garuda Indonesia will be receiving 24 aircrafts this year including 23 Boeing 737-800NG and one A330-200.

“The new aircraft will be used on domestic and regional routes and supports our five-year ‘Quantum Leap” expansion strategy. We plan to increase the number of domestic departures by double to 2,072 per week and international departures more than threefold to 1,222 a week by 2010,” said Emirsyah Satar, President & CEO Garuda Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia also plans to almost double its current fleet of 71 aircraft to 116 aircraft by 2014 based mainly on Boeing 737-800NGs and Airbus A330-200s/300s, which are operated on medium and long haul routes.

Honda decided to stop production of the Acura RL
